Born of Speed: The Beginnings

The story of Jackson begins with a man named Grover Jackson, who bought the Charvel company in 1978 and shortly afterwards realised his own vision of the ultimate metal guitar. The big breakthrough came in 1980 with the legendary Concorde model, which was developed for none other than Randy Rhoads (Ozzy Osbourne). With its sharp-edged, futuristic shape and unrivalled playability, the Concorde broke with all conventions - and made Jackson a cult brand in the metal world.

The DNA of Jackson: speed, style and precision

What sets Jackson apart from other brands is its uncompromising focus on performance. Whether shred, djent, thrash, death or progressive metal - the guitars are made for maximum playing speed and absolute control.

Pat Campolattano is the head master builder at Jackson. With roots in traditional craftsmanship, he discovered his love for guitars at an early age. After attending Berklee College and the Guitar Craft Academy, he quickly became known for creating unique custom instruments for stars such as Megadeth, Taylor Swift and Aerosmith.

„Red“ Dave Nichols has been a Master Builder at Jackson since 2006. Before that, he worked in the Fender Custom Shop for 16 years. He discovered his passion for wood at an early age - today, as a guitar builder, he fulfils dreams and loves to see customers' eyes light up when they hold their dream instrument in their hands.

Joe Williams has been with the Jackson Custom Shop since 2005 and was appointed Master Builder in 2018. From Squier-modifying teenager to expert in the finest custom instruments, he developed the first Jackson multiscale guitars and worked on the legendary Randy Rhoads Tribute.

„Big“ Rob Knowles built his first electric guitar as a child - at the age of nine he was already playing and repairing it himself. After working for Fender and the FMIC network, he specialised in complex high-performance guitars and was appointed Jackson Master Builder in 2021.

When you order a Jackson Custom Shop guitar from us, you get more than just an instrument. You get a statement that commands respect on and off stage. Whether you want a modernised version of a classic or a completely new design, Jackson will make it happen with precision craftsmanship and passion.

More than metal

Although Jackson is deeply rooted in the metal scene, the guitars have long since found their way into other genres - wherever playing speed, expression and character are required. Thanks to modern features, excellent ergonomics and uncompromising quality, Jackson instruments also inspire progressive rockers, fusion guitarists and technically adept studio musicians.
