The full story of Duesenberg

The founding of Duesenberg

Dieter Gölsdorf, designer and founder of Duesenberg Guitars, established a small company in 1978 that manufactured and sold guitars and guitar parts. He soon gathered extensive experience for his later vision of an electric guitar. His love of sophisticated technical constructions and bold designs ultimately led to the founding of his own electric-guitar brand — Duesenberg. That was in 1986. The motto of the new brand: We build instruments for musicians who need or want to play them every night.

The success story of the Starplayer

In 1995 the Starplayer TV was born. Before long it had found its way into the hands of world-famous guitarists. The brief was clear: it should have its own voice, look stunning and at the same time be a reliable companion. Its design has been refined over the years, but even today it is driven by those core values more than ever. Today it is the sister to more than 10 different guitar series that have been created over the years and are celebrated around the world. Among the biggest fans of the Starplayer are Chris Cornell, Jason Isbell, Ron Wood and Mike Campbell, to name just a few.

More than just a hidden gem

Duesenberg instruments quickly became a worldwide insider tip among live and studio musicians. The successful design, the unique, versatile tone and the robust, roadworthy overall construction have since convinced many professional artists. These include Ron Wood, Mike Campbell, Bob Dylan, Joe Walsh, John Mayer, Robbie McIntosh, Johnny Depp and many more.
Today Dieter works with a steadily growing team of music and guitar enthusiasts. His partner Ingo Renner has taken over day-to-day business and the design work has become a collaborative process.

Duesenberg charity support

Duesenberg is also strongly committed to environmental protection and social organisations. To give something back of the raw material that over the years has become part of Duesenberg's story, they take part in the Eden Reforestation Project, which reforests thousands of hectares of woodland in north-west Madagascar.
For many years Duesenberg Guitars has funded the planting of 30,000 mangrove trees annually. This largely prevents flooding and soil erosion and replenishes underground groundwater reserves. The result is ecologically healthy forest systems that are now managed responsibly and sustainably, providing a new habitat for many wild animals and creating new jobs for people in the region.
