With the Precision, Fender set a milestone in music history in 1951. It was the first solid-body electric bass to be mass-produced. The namesake feature that makes it so precise is the fretted neck. This provides precise intonation by design, in contrast to the free intonation of the double bass. The playing style, which corresponds to that of the guitar, was a real sensation!
