Introducing: Your dream instrument from Fender
All the info to help you decide
In November 1950, a second pickup was added to the neck of the first Fender model, the Esquire. The new model was given the name Broadcaster and became the first Fender model to be produced in large numbers and achieve historical significance. However, the name Broadcaster was short-lived and had to be changed following a complaint from the Gretsch company, which was already using the name for various drum products at the time.
From about February to August 1951, Fender continued to use the name and logo stickers for the headstocks but cut off the Broadcaster name. These no-name guitars, which were nicknamed Nocaster, are very rare due to the short production run and are traded at astronomical prices among collectors today. The Fender Custom Shop has set itself the task of studying these high-quality vintage guitars and reproducing them down to the smallest detail. Here we have a very special Custom Shop Nocaster one-off for you:
The Fender Custom Shop 1950 Double Esquire Heavy Relic ANBL is a classic T-style electric guitar with a two-piece ash body. Ash wood was already used in the original Telecaster guitars and provides the basis for the perfect vintage sound. The body wood was selected by hand to ensure a particularly light weight and thus improve playing comfort. The aged maple neck with maple fingerboard features a 1950 Blackguard Shape profile in the style of the 50s and a compound fretboard radius of 7,25" - 9,5", which offers the perfect compromise between vintage feel and modern comfort and makes it easier for the left hand to grip. The guitar is equipped with a classic S-S pickup combination of two Fender Custom Shop Handwound '50-'51 Blackguard pickups. Other features include Fender Vintage style machine heads, Dome Speed Knobs, a '50 Esquire® Bridge with Steel Barrel Saddles and a black 5-hole pickguard.
This model is finished in a classic Aged Nocaster Blonde. The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish ensures that the wood can vibrate particularly well and that the lacquer finish ages more beautifully. The most extreme of Fender's Relic levels, Heavy Relic evokes the spirit of the most tried and worn Fender instruments in history. If you want a guitar that looks like it hasn't left your side since the dawn of rock ‘n’ roll, this is the right finish for you.
The Fender Custom Shop 1950 Double Esquire Heavy Relic ANBL comes with a certificate of authenticity in a luxurious original Fender Custom Shop Brown Tolex case with orange interior, allowing you to safely transport your new dream guitar and protect it from external influences.
