Ollis Dealer Select as Masterbuilt
For years session and the Fender Custom Shop have been successful cooperation partners, repeatedly designing and bringing new, interesting instruments to market together. Our Fender and session teams work hand in hand to excite our customers with new guitar and bass creations. A particularly large part of this is, of course, our in-house Custom Shop guru and Fender fanatic Olli Lohmann, who among other things started the successful Fender Custom Shop Dealer Select series.
When Fender masterbuilders Andy Hicks and David Brown visited our store in Frankfurt, Olli showed them our popular Dealer Select HSS Strat, which Olli had designed according to his personal preferences. The two were enthusiastic about Olli's ideas and our guitar, and they immediately agreed to build not just one, but several different Masterbuilt models for us with specs personally selected by Olli.
Introducing: Your dream instrument from Fender
All the information to help you decide
Like its predecessors from the Teambuilt Custom Shop, this new Dealer Select is once again modelled on a 1959 Fender Stratocaster with HSS pickups, Olli's absolute favourite model from the American cult manufacturer. The Fender Custom Shop 1959 Stratocaster JRN HSS HT SNB MBDB therefore adopts the majority of the specifications from the previous Dealer Select Strats - with a few interesting changes.
The Fender Custom Shop 1959 Stratocaster JRN HSS HT SNB MBDB is a classic ST-style electric guitar with a two-piece alder body. Alder wood was already used in the original Stratocaster guitars and provides the basis for the perfect vintage sound. The body wood was selected by hand to ensure a particularly light weight and thus improve playing comfort. The aged maple neck with a rosewood fretboard and 22 jumbo nickel silver frets is in an ultra-comfortable ‘60s style oval C profile and is fitted with a compound fingerboard radius of 9.5” - 12” offering the perfect compromise between vintage feel and modern comfort and making it easier for the left hand to grip. The guitar is equipped with a modern H-S-S pickup combination of a Seymour Duncan EVH ‘78 humbucker in zebra look at the bridge, a Fender Custom Shop Handwound Fat 50s single coil and a Fender Custom Shop Handwound ’59 single coil with reversed winding and polarity at the neck position. The humbucker also has an auto-split function. Other features include Fender Vintage Style tuners, control knobs in Aged White, a tortoise pickguard and a Fender String-Thru-Body Hardtail Vintage Relic Bridge. With this bridge, the sides are guided through the body, which makes for a tighter sound than with a tremolo bridge. However, you have to do without vibrato sounds.
This model is finished in a classic Sonic Blue colour. The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish ensures that the wood can vibrate particularly well and that the lacquer finish ages more beautifully. This is about the look and feel of a guitar that has been loved and played. If you play your instrument often, it's a simple truth that your guitar will eventually show signs of wear. Even for players who take great care of their guitars, a fall off the stand, other people's hands or even a mysterious-looking dent can take its toll. Each of these marks adds character to the guitar. And that's what you get with the Journeyman Relic Level from Fender Custom Shop. A well-maintained instrument that has been played, played on and loved. All of our Dealer Select Masterbuilts with Journeyman Relic were crafted by David Brown.
The Fender Custom Shop 1959 Stratocaster JRN HT HSS SNB MBDB comes with a certificate of authenticity in a luxurious original Fender Custom Shop case, which you can use to transport your new dream guitar safely and protect it from external influences. A Fender Custom Shop strap is also included.
